Why is my cockateil not happy?

i bought him 5 days ago because he looked so happy in the petshop..he was the only one active and he was singing and dancing around so i got him..so after his been here in my house he hasnt singed or really talked. he lets me scratch his head and lets me feed him from my hand and finger tips.
