Is justice served when people are judged for a life that they didn't even ask for?

Is this fair? It seems to me it's kinda of like giving someone a remote control with a shiny red button on it. Even though it's quite tempting to push it, the manual says that if you push the button then you're going to be judged harshly when it's all over with. What a temptation! At that point you might be inclined to throw away the controller, but no, you have to carry it around with you for all life, and if you throw it away then you'll be judged harshly as well. What we have here is an unwanted gift that wasn't asked for, because the rules pollute the game and make it not even worth playing.
