How can American Christians support free market capitalism but also cry out for government regulation?

They support the Republicans, the side of politics traditionally associated with free market capitalist ideals, yet they also demand the government regulate industries like the porn industry, the video game industry, the arts, the media, social health services etc. Christians are constantly yammering about how offensive they find these private industries. But if they support something that directly contradicts another, that means their entire political effort counts for nothing, right? By supporting +1 at the same time supporting -1, they have reached absolute zero, haven't they; all they're doing is just pointlessly making political noise and polluting the democratic process with nonsense and gibberish?
